A mysterious alien travels through space and time with a human medical student.

I think if I were to make a top ten list of my favorite Doctor Who episodes, probably close to half of them would be from this season. This is where the series gets to the point where you can expect great drama (and humor, and horror) from just about every single episode. The plots don't always work if you think about them too much, and the finale is a mess, but it doesn't really matter while you're watching it.
