Night Visitors is about a young scholar named Ho Kuan who believed that all forms of life were special. When ants infest his family's storeroom and eat all of their grain, instead of drowning them he wants to find a way to seal off the storehouse while still sparing the ants' lives. His father gives him one month to find a way to do so.

The language used was very traditional and the illustrations were very beautiful.
