Lacey Smithsonian, a fashion reporter for Washington D.C.'s The Eye newspaper, has a nose for more trouble than fashion. Her stories seem to end up front page news. This time she is covering a supermodel's new clothing line when the supermodel tells Lacey that she is going to be murdered and she wants Lacey to solve the crime. Seeing as how this model is a complete...ahem, shrew this is really not shocking news. What is shocking is that someone actually suceeds in murdering her. There is a long list of suspects, but will Lacey have time to solve this mystery with her mother and sister coming into town and her boyfriend wanting to go away for the weekend (well, until his ex-wife breezes into town as well)?
All in all a very enjoyable show more mystery with the right amount of humor and romance plugged into the intrigue. Plus Lacey's Crimes of Fashion column and her friends deadfed.com online conspiracy column just add to the fun. show less

This is the third in her Crime of Fashion mystery series. Chick lit meets mystery with tons of wit, snide humor, sarcasm and fun. I've enjoyed all three books. This one centers around an ugly duckling turned supermodel through an extreme makeover, who predicts her murder right before it happens. Lacey (our journalist/herione) gets drug into finding out (through her amazing fashion clues) who did it.
An ugly but nice woman became beautiful via a TV show like The Swan, and now she's a vicious supermodel. She tells Lacey Smithsonian, fashion reporter, that she's afraid someone's trying to kill her and asks Lacey to find out who. She's killed, and Lacey does find out who. Lacey's judgmental mother & sister come to visit & cramp her style. Cute series, but I really cannot understand why Lacey puts up with a boyfriend who spends more time with his conniving ex-wife than with her.
The writing is not that interesting, there are a ton of cliches and the characters names are all unbelievable. I'm giving up on this one!
Lacey Smithsonian is always stylishly on the mark!
