Not wonderful - the situation is rather contrived and the standard romance trope of 'he won't accept that he's in love' is carried to annoying extremes. But the characters are well-done and properly held to, the setting is nicely presented (though 'stockings' aren't quite what they wore then, or not what we now call stockings), and the story's not bad overall. And quite erotic - it actually got less explicit when they finally got together. Pleasant to read, I may reread and I'd like to read more in the series. ( ) This is somewhere in the middle of a series of historicals about the hero's brothers. Really cute. He goes looking for someone to protect him from the "curse" that's got all his brothers marrying one after the other... and ends up finding the One, though he still resists, of course. Kind of silly, but a lot of fun. no reviews | add a review
His Whole Family Was Cursed! How else to explain this rash of marriages by the Brothers de Burgh? Robin de Burgh alone swore to remain unwed, despite ironic fate, which used foul murder to mate him with The One--spirited Sybil, a damsel in distress who insisted she needed him not! When convent walls became more prison than refuge, restless novice Sybil knew 'twas time to leave. But never did she expect to trade her wimple for a wedding veil, even when Sir Robin de Burgh, knight most impudent, demanded she put her life--and her heart--in his hands!
