This is a classic fairy tale that includes so many life lessons. One is the importance of friends. When Snow White had nowhere else to go, the seven dwarfs welcomed her into their home, no questions asked. Another would be to look for the good in everyone, like the huntsman did when he was ordered to kill Snow White. This story can even teach the important message to not talk to strangers. Snow White did so and ended up cursed by a poison apple. A final lesson is that real beauty comes within. The queen was not an unattractive woman, but her heart was filled with hatred and anger. Snow White had a pure heart, so she was identified as the fairest one of all.
Summary:
This is a story about a beautiful princess that lived with an evil witch. The evil witch was jealous of her beauty and wanted to have her killed. But instead of killing Snow White, the huntsman let her run away where she ran to a small cottage. Seven dwarfs lived in this small cottage. One day after the dwarfs went to work, the evil witch found Snow White and poisoned her. The only thing that would break the spell was a true love.

Personal Reaction:
This is my all time favorite fairy tale. As a young girl I fell in love with the seven dwarfs. The illustration in this book is still as wonderful as it always has been. I am sure it will stay a classic for many years to come.

Classroom Extension:
1. I would use this book to teach my show more students the dangers of talking to strangers. This is a perfect example of why children should not trust strange people.

2. I would also use this book to teach my students different personality types. The seven dwarfs are perfect examples of people with different types of personality.

This book is of course a classic. I would not do a whole lesson on just this book, but I would read it to my class if we were doing a Fairytale unit. I think this book would be great for second grade and younger. It is very entertaining, and you could have students make predictions on what was going to happen next.
A fanciful story of a maiden who stumbles upon a small cottage inhabited by seven dwarfs in the woods after escaping the wrath of the evil queen. A family and a Disney classic. My oldest sister read this book to me often. I know of a few variations that exist. I use this story in a unit on memory in my psychology courses and it could be used in a Media Literacy course.
