But when Cordelia's sister, Octavia, suddenly deserts her infant daughter on Cordelia's doorstep, Jane is on her own. A lot going on in this story! I must confess I don't remember it too well. This may be why I don't think I've kept up with Jane Lawless since this January 2006 marathon of 4 books in a month. Maybe I should see what she's been up to. ( )

I read this book because I thought the cover was beautiful and then the description sounded good. I thought the current murder half-way through felt obligatory, the old murder and the spiked food were mystery enough for me. I liked Cordelia very much. She's one of those larger then life personalities that I'm a little afraid of in real life but like to read about.
