I almost rated this book lower than the earlier books in the series but I didn't because I found the Countess's description of the attempted overthrow of King Hassan II of Morocco far more interesting than reading about it in the newspaper when it happened in 1971.
What I didn't like about this book was the relationships and angst that had nothing to do with espionage. There were sections of the book that made me think it's possible that Kim Kardashian is actually working undercover for the CIA.

I had finished reading this book before I realized that it is the truth. How interesting this woman's life was and it was filled with the most interesting, beautiful people. I wondered all along if the General was the one plotting to assassinate the King but even after reading what happened, are we still sure?
Sequel to the author's accounts of her spying for the OSS in WW2 . This is about spying for the US in Morocco in 1971, working with William Casey (future CIA director) to prevent the assassination of King Hassan II.

Aline, Countess of Romanones was born Mary Aline Griffith in Pearl River, New York on May 23, 1923. She received a degree in literature, history and journalism from the College of Mount Saint Vincent. After graduating, she became a model. During World War II, she worked as a code clerk deciphering messages in the United States Embassy in Madrid show more for the Office of Strategic Services. She posed as a socialite employed by American oil companies. In 1947, she married Luis de Figueroa y Pérez de Guzmán el Bueno, the count of Quintanilla and later of Romanones. Her first memoir, The Spy Wore Red: My Adventures as an Undercover Agent in World War II, was published in 1987. Her other memoirs included The Spy Went Dancing, The Spy Wore Silk, The End of an Epoch, and the novel The Well-Mannered Assassin. She died on December 11, 2017 at the age of 94.
