Rare that I read a travel guide from cover to cover, but Woodley’s walks about the boroughs of London were full of description and a keen eye for detail and read like a narrative story. One can tell the author loves his city and delights in the hidden corners that require a bit of a trained eye to appreciate. At the same time no amount of reverence will keep him from describing the ghastly buildings as they are. I wish I had the time to do every walk in this book. Maybe I should write a book like this about Boston instead?
