Description
"As the amount of information in biology expands dramatically, it becomes increasingly important for textbooks to distill the vast amount of scientific knowledge into concise principles and enduring concepts. As with previous editions, Molecular Biology of the Cell, Sixth Edition accomplishes this goal with clear writing and beautiful illustrations. The Sixth Edition has been extensively revised and updated with the latest research in the field of cell biology, and it provides an exceptional show more framework for teaching and learning. The entire illustration program has been greatly enhanced. Protein structures better illustrate structure-function relationships, icons are simpler and more consistent within and between chapters, and micrographs have been refreshed and updated with newer, clearer, or better images. As a new feature, each chapter now contains intriguing open-ended questions highlighting "What We Don't Know," introducing students to challenging areas of future research. Updated end-of-chapter problems reflect new research discussed in the text. Thought-provoking end-of-chapter questions have been expanded to all chapters, including questions on developmental biology, tissues and stem cells, the immune system, and pathogens"-- show lessTags

This text is THE goto reference for basic molecular and cell biology. It is frequently updated and the figures and diagrams are beautiful and assist greatly in understanding. The book is a mid level undergraduate text and most topics are covered in a clear but superficial level. The obtain a more advanced understanding of specific fields, advanced sources are required.
Molecular Biology of the Cell (Alberts et al.) is a premier, comprehensive university textbook that details the current understanding of cell biology, covering molecular genetics, protein structure, and cellular organization. Known for its thoroughness and accessibility, it is a standard reference for students and researchers.
I used this textbook in a cell bio course. This is one of the few books you should really invest in especially if cell biology is going to be a common factor along your career.
Excellent textbook! The concepts were very well explained with the use of text and color-filled diagrams.
THE fashion accessory for every up and coming cell biologist. It helped me through college, and it's helping me right now. Yes, it's hot.
A good first chapter, but not sure how much it'll pay to go on. I want to keep this around, though.
First chapter is a readable introduction to cellular biology for non-specialists. I remember seeing that first chapter available somewhere online.
