Illustrated with vibrant and enchanting paintings, this plot story takes you to the Arctic where you'll learn about family, traditions, language, sea life, and so much more. With rich colors and an even richer story, children will learn about a culture and habitat that they are not likely already familiar with while also learning about the animals and people of the Arctic.

This book tells the story of the arctic through the eyes through Kupaaq. It is a great introduction to the Inuit people and arctic habitat. Jean Craighead George has done a wonderful job of illustrating the arctic and its beauty, its danger, and its being - intertwining with the Inuit people. It simply is a very child friendly way to introduce such a harsh part of the world. ( )

My son and I enjoyed learning about this kid's life in Alaska. We knew very little about Eskimo or modern Alaskan culture, although my son knew way more about Alaska's climate and seasons than I did. We discussed several different cultural norms as a result of reading this together, and we both learned something new and interesting. ( )
