Fun read of the Dickens classic from Marley's POV. Your mileage on this may vary, but as I read the Dickens book every year, this one's a fun read too, if not quite as deep a read.
A retelling of Dickens' Christmas Carol from Jacob Marley's perspective. Author Mula also fills in some more details about Scrooge's (and Marley's) childhood and career, and presents an interesting view of the afterlife. A light, pleasant read if you're a fan of the Dickens original.
When I read this three years ago I gave it three stars. As I am currently doing my annual rereading of "A Christmas Carol," during the first chapter when Marley visits Scrooge, I found myself remembering this book's interpretation of the scene with disgust. I came back, thinking my rating must be 2 stars, determined to remedy this by changing it to 1. What I was thinking when I rated the book 3 stars I do not know, but I have corrected the rating to the one star that is more than the book deserves.
One of my few personal Christmas traditions is to read first the original Christmas Carol by Dickens, and then to read this alternate version.
