I think "I Love You Because You're You" by Liza Baker is a wonderful book for children. This book is a great way to show how much a mother truly loves her child. The book does a wonderful job making sure the theme is all about how the mom loves her son no matter the circumstance or situation, and the book also does a good job with rhymes that allow the children who read the book to have fun and be engaged. The pictures also go well with the words, allowing the children to not only read or hear the words of the book, but to also be able to see a visual representation to what the words mean, possibly allowing the child to have a deeper connection and/or understanding to the message of the book.
Summary:
I Love You Because You're You, is a sweet book that teaches about how a mother loves her child no matter how he/she acts. The book provides several examples about why the mom loves her child. For example, the mom tells her child that she loves him/her when they are angry and pout. The moral to the story is that a mother loves her children at their best and worst times.

Personal Reaction:
This book reminded me of my childhood. My mother always told me she would love me through thick and thin. I think this story is a sweet book that every parent should read to their child while they are growing up.

Classroom Extension Ideas:
I Love You Because You're You would be a wonderful book to use for small children. Many kids just starting show more school or daycare have a hard time being away from their mom. This book would be a reminder that their mom loves them and will provide children comfort knowing that their mom loves them. show less
This story was about a child and its mother and the mother told him everyday i love you because your you not because you do nice things or eat all your food not even because you do what i say i love you just because your you.
I really liked this story because it tells children it doesnt matter what you do or what you say thier parents will ove you no matter so even iof the child is acting up or not really listening thier parents will still love.
As a class the kids could tell why they love thier parents what is something thier parents do that make them happy and what is something they do to make thier parents happy.
Summary: This book describes a mother's love for her child. There can be a range of emotions that the child may be feeling and their mother will still love them because of who they are.

Critique: This is a good book to read at home with mom. It is a gentle reminder that we may get in trouble with our parents but they still love us no matter what.

Prompts: I do not think I would use this book at school; it is more of an at home book in my opinion.
Summery:
Its about this mother and son. The mother love his son no matter what.

Personal Reaction:
I thought that it was a good book that kids will enjoy reading. Because it talks about love. i also think it doesn't matter what u are you still love someone the way the are not because of what they look like or what they have.

Ideas:
1. Ask kids what they love most about heir parent?
2. Do a coloring activity about i what they read?
Age appropriateness: Early elementary
Review: This book is an example of fantasy. It has concepts (love and family) that are relatable to all children, however the characters in the book are foxes and other animals which gives the story a sense of fantasy. The animals are personified and are just like a human mother and child.
Style: This book has a lot of repetition which strengthens the point of the story. “I love you when…” is repeated throughout the book which adds an element to the story.
Media: Colored Pencil
This lovely picture book shows that love is unconditional.
