Don Camillo Takes the Devil by the Tail

This is a continuation of the ongoing struggle of the priest Don Camillo, with the Communist mayor, Peppone. Two men who desire the best for their village and neighbors before all else, but would never admit it. These men would do anything to promote the best interests of their cause, sometimes to ridiculous measures such as vying for who can offer the best entertainment, the church with their movies or the People's Party with their TV. Or the time when the great snowstorm hit and the mayor decided to clean the streets by piling all the snow in the church courtyard. Don Camillo was hard put to keep his temper until the snow crushed the roof of the People's Palace. All in all, the stories in this volume were entertaining, but not as show more endearing as those in his earlier work. I wonder though if that is due to the different translator? show less

This made me laugh a handful of times, but it also felt a bit tedious at others. I think these stories would be better enjoyed spread out over time than read back-to-back.
