Description
Go beyond Buckingham Palace and uncover the delights of over 120 unique London buildings captured by one of the great photographers of the 20th century. Lord Snowdon has traversed the city, taking pictures that are evocative, intriguing and inspiring. The result is a tour of London's architecture that reveals the unexpected, the unusual and the largely unseen. He takes you to a boathouse that's the epitome of Georgian elegance tucked away on the banks of the Thames and a staircase that rises show more from a mooring in front of the Houses of Parliament with a sentry box at the top. And, on Old Brompton Road, visit a humble cottage that presents a cheerful face to the world, painted in a sunny yellow color. How these structures came to be built and for whom and when, is also engagingly told. show lessTags

A labor of love where photos of odd buildings in London are collected with poetic descriptions of their history and value to the city. I’m particularly impressed that I actually found and photographed myself a former Turkish bath-come-restaurant in the City that featured on the cover of this book.
