The pictures in this book grabbed my attention before I even got to the print. What a delightful book that causes you to go back and read it again. The illustrations done in plasticine are reminiscent of family gatherings when I was young.
A fun party comes with a lot of emotions and with a lot of emotions children must overcome to have the fun they desire. A personality development book that helps children Understand their emotions and express them in socially acceptable ways
Gorgeous plasticine illustrations by Barbara Reid. A delightful account of a family get-together in honour of grandmother's birthday. This book won the 1997 Governor General's Literary Award for Children's Illustration. (Canada).
This book is about kids who learn how to get along and play games such as tag at a party while the adults are talking
i would read this book to a group 6 to 8 years old simply because of the content and how old the kids seem in the book

Summary: A young girl and her sister attend a family party. The author, in rhythmic form, tells the story from the perspective of the girl and includes everything that she experiences at the party, from making up imaginary games to spending time with awkward relatives. The story ends with two tired little girls who had a wonderful time at their party.
Critiques:
Genre: This is an example of realistic fiction because the characters are easy to relate to and they are believable. Also, the plot line consists of events that could actually happen and the author writes in such a way that makes the reader be able to identify with the main character.
Point of View: This story is written from the perspective of a little girl and the entirety of the show more story is seen through her eyes and how she views the people and activities at the party. If it was written from the view of someone else, such as one of her parents, or even her sister, things would have been described in a very different way.
