Using a similar format to the Illustrated Discographies of The Beatles, The Stones and Bowie, Rinzler opts here to only consider Dylan's album output and ignores the single releases which formed an important part of His Bobness's commercial impact in the 60s.
The witty style of Roy Carr's efforts gives way to Rinzler's somewhat intellectual approach and he concentrates very much on Dylan's lyrics at the expense of the music.
A good introduction and guide to the twists and turns of Dylan's career from 1961 to 1978, stopping short of Dylan's notorious Budokan album and subsequent temporary conversion to Christianity.
