A USAF Marauder that crashed in 1944 is found submerged in a swamp outside a remote English village. What begins as a routine investigation soon uncovers troubling news- the dead crew, identified by their dog tags, are soon found to be very much alive and the plane was carrying Hitler’s last nasty. Gardner was a master of the thrilling adventure form and has playfully included some interesting gothic elements. A perfect beach book.
