2749 The New Commonwealth 1877-1890, by John A. Garraty (read 25 May 1995) This is a volume in the New American Nation series. It has chapters on Agriculture, Industry, The Workingman, and Urbanization in the period indicated. I found the book of only passing interest. The writer has little good to say of Hayes, Garfield, Arthur, Cleveland, and Harrison, but his chapter on their presidencies was by far the most interesting chapter.
