Interesting little history of a hoax from 1909 called The Old Librarian's Almanack, supposedly an almanac for librarians from 1773. A facsimile reprint of the 1753 almanac is appended. A nice diversion of a diversion.

The story of a fun little "hoax" perpetrated by Pearson and Cotton in the early part of the twentieth century. Includes "The Old Librarian's Almanack" that formed the hoax, which makes for very amusing reading itself.
