I just read and enjoyed (well, as much as you can enjoy a totally devastating memoir) [Stolen: A Memoir], and I generally always read an op-ed column by Maia Szalavitz's in the NYT. So I figured I'd enjoy this book. I did not. This book was just not compelling at all. The narrative did not lead to an engaging read, unfortunately. I also didn't enjoy the abrupt change to blow-by-blow of the civil trial about 3/4 through the book.
