The Principal's New Clothes by Stephanie Calmenson is a whimsical and modern take on the classic tale of 'The Emperor's New Clothes.' In this humorous adaptation, the principal of Wagstaff Elementary finds himself in a comical predicament when he falls for a cunning tailor's scheme. Calmenson's witty storytelling and playful illustrations by Denise Brunkus make for an engaging read that will leave both children and adults chuckling. Beyond the laughs, the book cleverly imparts lessons about honesty, leadership, and the importance of questioning the status quo. It's a refreshing twist on a timeless story that will entertain and enlighten readers of all ages
Maybe today's schoolchildren would like this more than [a:Hans Christian Andersen|6378|Hans Christian Andersen|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1434625240p2/6378.jpg]'s original, but I found it to a bit more dumbed down, and with nothing that enriches or enhances the original.

Reread for group. This time I noticed that the smart boy was made out to be an awkward geek... unfortunate stereotype.

This is a story about Principal Bundy, the sharpest dresser in town. One day two people come and offered to make him a new suit. They told him that only the smart people and people who were good at their job could see the suit. There really was no suit at all, but no one wanted to tell him because they would look stupid. Principal Bundy showed up in his underwear, when finally one student told him he did not have on a suit. I would use this story to K-3rd grade. It is a good story to teach about telling the truth.
Nice story about a principal that gets tricked and his students are there to help him out in the end. Good story for younger students and showing them the importance of helping out.

This is an example of a fairy tale. It is a spin off of the Emperor's New Clothes. It follows the old fairy tale pretty closely, the modern twists don't change the main plot and the moral of the story. Media: ink
Fun twist on a classic fairy tale!
