This novel opens in a Nazi occupied Europe and moves to the American Southwest. It tells the story of a Dutch girl and an American boy who meet in a just- liberated Nazi concentration camp. They're both Quakers who move to the United States and are involved in a heartrending adventure.
The fourth part and second volume of an intended four part series, following parts one and two combined into the first volume, The Peaceable Kingdom." Part three regarding Indiana was never published. This book deals with Quaker life during World War Two and after, with an American segment located in New Mexico. An nteresting historical novel, but not as believable or as broadly grounded in depicting factual Quaker history as the first volume.
