Not all series need to start at the beginning, this one does. I stumbled across this series and began it backwards with the fifth and sixth books. The fifth one wasn't so hard to follow. But the last one, I could see I was missing too much background information.
Sizemore is able to imprison the reader emotionally. No matter what goes wrong within the pages, I couldn't possibly stop reading the book. Normally I refuse to read books published over a year or to in the past. I feel there are too many good ones being put on the shelf now. So for me to reach back almost a decade to find this gem, it's got to say something positive about the author's writing ability.
My only complaint, which is a small one, is the ending wasn't complete. It was show more cut off before Domini discussed her past with Alec. It also ended too abruptly. Other than that, much of my questions about the Prime series has been explained.
Readers, even if vampire romance isn't your thing, this series might change your view. I'm not a huge fan, but I really love the Prime series. show less

This was a decent enough of a story, but all the different sorts of vampires was too complicated. It gave the story less of a story feeling and more like something one might find in an RPG game, like Dungeons & Dragons. The two main characters, Domini and Reynard, were written very well and were very solid which made it worthwhile for me to finish reading the book. One thing I did not like, and which grated on my nerves throughout the story, was Domini's name. I never was quite sure how to pronounce it in my mind and it felt like one of those goofy made up names you might find through a Name Generator.
Not the worst book that I've this year and by far not the best one either. I really liked the take the author had on the vampire society and their culture. I liked Domini, thought she had some strong backbone and was a pretty strong heroine. Alec had his good moments and then he had his realy jerk moments. Somethings didn't do it for me though. I thought the story started strong, but then it kept stalling in the middle, causing the end to be very rushed. There were times that I had to go back and read the last paragraph because I though I missed something. The writing wasn't very good either, but you can see the potential there. I saw that the ratings for the next books just kept getting better, so I think the author made some adjustments.
Yeeeesh. Mediocre at best.
Hot Dog!! A New twist on the vampire tale.
Enjoyed the series.
