Description
Burroughs knew that after hearing of the deadly nature of sin his congregation would be ready to hear about the remission of sins offered in the gospel. He begins with an exposition of Psalm 32:1, "Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven." Burroughs points out the dishonor done to God by not resting on this mercy, and also gives the evidences of remission.Tags

This book, subtitled "True Blessedness Consists in Pardon of Sin," is comprised of sermons preached after Jeremiah Burroughs' masterful treatise of sin entitled The Evil of Evils. This entire work is an exposition of Psalm 32:1: "Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, and whose sin is covered." After showing in The Evil of Evils that sin is indeed the greatest evil, Burroughs here shows that it must follow, then, that pardon or remission of sins is the greatest blessing a man can have.
