No current Talk conversations about this book. this was fine... entertaining! but at the same time not exciting. i know it was only 130 pages, but i think there could've been more. it's a bittersweet story as Mirabelle looks for genuine love and happiness. there are a lot of quiet heartbreaking moments that i liked. not amazing or groundbreaking, but it was enjoyable. quick, easy to read and well written. i don't read stories with characters like Mirabelle so that was refreshing Has the adaptationDistinctions
THE BESTSELLING NOVEL BY STEVE MARTIN IS NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE Mirabelle is the "shopgirl" of the title, a young woman, beautiful in a wallflowerish kind of way, who works behind the glove counter at Neiman Marcus "selling things that nobody buys anymore..." Mirabelle captures the attention of Ray Porter, a wealthy businessman almost twice her age. As they tentatively embark on a relationship, they struggle to decipher the language of love--with consequences that are both comic and heartbreaking. Filled with the kind of witty, discerning observations that have brought Steve Martin critical success, Shopgirl is a work of disarming tenderness. No library descriptions found. |
