Description
Set in the troubled, uncertain days of World War II, folows the events of WWII as they affect the Thomases, a Mormon family from Salt Lake City, Utah. The parents have sent three of their children into the armed forces, and Sister Thomas has had to go to work, helping her husband run their family businesses. Their role as parents is being reevaluated as their children become more independent and the hardships and realities of the war impact their traditional LDS lifestyle and beliefs.Tags

This book covers the bulk of WWII, which is why I did my best to rush through it—I want the horribleness to be over so I can get to the (mostly) happy endings. But it's got everything you'd want from a war story—suspense, romance, heartbreak, etc. I've always loved this series for its LDS perspective, too. If I had lived during WWII, my experience would have been similar to the Thomases', which makes this series feel more like home than any other WWII story. Again, I really appreciate the research the author did to make the characters and events feel unquestionably real.
