Beautiful black and white portraits and scenic photos of Native Americans. These photos show that last pristine remnants of life as it was fading into historical oblivion. Indian culture was a vast collection of tribes who sometimes encroached upon each other, sometimes coexisted but always recognized the religious aspects their ways. These photos are part of the Library of Congress and the book chronicles the life and work of Curtis.
This book is nothing short of amazing. It's in a large format, has great reproductions, captions, and maps. This is the best book of Edward Curtis photos that I've seen, with some photos from all areas of his career.
