if i had read this when it came out i'd feel much differently about it. there are still important points here and she was absolutely doing something crucial here. some of the information is even still relevant. but much of it isn't by now and the lack of intersection (even as she tries) is disappointing.

the introduction was the best part of the entire book, i thought, which all of these quotes are from:

"I define as 'feminsit' any attempt to improve the lot of any group of women through female solidarity and a female perspective."

"Patriarchy - that is, institutionalized male supremacy - ..." (what a quick and easy and perfect definition that can be extrapolated for all oppressions)

"Men's need to dominate women may be based in their own show more sense of marginality or emptiness; we do not know its root, and men are making no effort to discover it." show less
1992 and women still striving to matter. Reading this in 2018 and seeing we have made no real progress at all...same shit...different day. Latest news has familiar infighting in women`s movement that will derail it and keep women an oppressed group for another forty years.
