Yakari and Great Eagle

Yakari meets his friend Great Eagle in his dreams and tries to be like him by flying until Little Thunder helps him discover his real talent: he can talk to the animals. I read this series when I was a kid and find that I still like it a lot, especially its emphasis on respect for nature. It is meant for a younger reader since the story is highly message-driven and can seem slightly "teachy" at times, but it has lots of entertaining characters, lots of humor, and tense situations, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue. It is a great example of Franco-Belgian comics (even if the creators were Swiss-born), so if you like those, I think you'll like this too.
