I don't know how Suzanne Enoch does it, but I went from loathing this scoundrel of a hero, Saint Aubyn, to loving him by the end. There's something about him that was so awful, yet he was so damned sexy and outrageous, no wonder Evie couldn't resist him. The first half of the book dragged and the entire orphanage storyline was blah and then the kidnapping scenario when Evie locks Saint in the dungeon was unbelievably far-fetched, yet it did bring life to the story and the second half was much better than the first. Nice proposal scene too. I can't understand it, but I wound up loving this book!
I love this series and enjoyed this second installment, although not as much as the first.
Evelyn is a great female lead and it was heartening to see her standing up to her controlling brother in parts of the book. Saint was a suitably "damaged" or "Jaded" hero even though he comes across as a bit crass at the beginning. It took me a while to warm to him.
One of my favourite characters is actually Jansen the Butler - St Aubyn relies on him more than he knows and at times, Jansen is more a friend and confidante for Saint than any other male character in the book.

Fast, easy read. Evelyn wants to help the children in an orphange that is under the care of the worst scoundrel in London and he wants to sell the property to the crown to be rid of the responsibility. It goes without saying that they've never met anyone like each other and after some cat and mouse antics they start falling in love with each other and start changing.
This book was Fantastic! I couldn't put it down! If life hadn't gotten in the way I wouldn't have! St. Aubyn and Evie were great leads! They drew me in and I looked forward to reading their shared and individual parts of the story..... also.. I still hate her brother Victor... Suzanne Enoch is fast becoming a favourite author!
I have read many books from Ms. Enoch, and I think this is my favorite. This particular series is three books, which include Evie, and her two best friends. This book is about Evie and Saint. God, I love Saint, he is yummy, and the things he does, you will love him too. Evie, sets out to reform Saint since he is a scoundrel, and as she sets out to do so, and is warned by her two best friends, she still does, it to prove that she can. Both Saint and Evie, have there own, plans for each other, but they fall in love. The things that Saint does to win her, you will fall in love too.
Determined heroine, wants to make the world a better place against obstacles of family, position and male domination. Truly evil hero
who really needs to find his soul. A good read.
