Since I read the first book in the series, I liked how references were made to it although this story stands alone. This stayed as a good story rather than just about lovers. Rachel was more than a bit immature in her behavior and thinking regarding men who should be thought as prisoners. Enjoyed feeling like a bit part of the wagon train group as the story developed. I liked how the story progressed in us learning about the truth behind Davis/Tomas de Bastitas past. Impressed with the faith that the Texas Ranger had in him with granting freedom and privileges.
