Generations ago, the Aincourt family was given a title and land for their loyalty to the king. But the former abbey they received came with a price--a curse that no family member would ever know happiness. Devin Aincourt, Earl of Ravenscar, makes no apologies for who he is--a drinker, a womanizer, a gambler. Having been cast aside by his disapproving father years before, Dev is content to live out his cursed life in this hedonistic manner. Until his mother asks him to make a bold move to restore the family name and fortune: marry a rich American heiress. Believing it will be a marriage in name only, Dev agrees to marry Miranda. But he never imagined that this feisty, unconventional foreigner would have plans of her own: to restore Blackwater, the old abbey, to its former glory, to extricate Dev from the clutches of a devious mistress and to win his heart for her own. All while risking her own life to an unknown enemy. For Dev and Miranda, love may be the most lasting curse of all.… (more)

Molto bello, avvincente ed appassionante e una protagonista, Miranda, donna tenace, caparbia e molto intelligente che riesce a domare il Conte di Ravenscar.
Intrighi e passioni per un libro che coinvolge e affascina. ( )

Loved how strong a woman that Miranda was, how independent and forward thinking, and then she is willing to accept the rotten behaviors of Devin. She had stayed away from other suitors and then falls head over heels for this person because of his looks! Glad that she held her to her conditions. ( )

First in the Aincourt series, Devin, an earl, is a carouser and gambler. When he is finally almost destitute, he agrees to marry an American Heiress under her terms - if he's going to keep his mistress after the marriage, then she's going to have a lover too and the marriage is business only for her money. No one has ever stood up to Devin before, and when he dries out and is removed from London to his estate, he realizes that he loves his wife, not his old carousing ways. ( )

Fun read. Typical romance. Plucky heroine gets into mess, falls for wealthy, rich, handsome hero and it all works out in the end. ( )

This was a cute romance especially if you like strong and intelligent lead females. Miranda is an American and she is witty, smart, and scheming. Dev is sweet although a little dumb. He's controlled by and evil mitress from hell. Miranda and Dev have a love hate relationship but have very believable arguments. The only thing I didn't like is the fact that Dev is so easily manipulated both by his mistress AND by Miranda. He never really seems to think on his own. Miranda definatly wears the pants in this relationship. ( )

For Dev and Miranda, love may be the most lasting curse of all.
