This book seemed to me a lot like a less polished first draft for Galapagos. Said Crazy Kurt, "I have this idea for a book where the main character ends up on an island in the Pacific around the time when the world ends, but I'm not sure what else happens." So he tried it two different ways. One came out a 4, the other a 3. ( )

I don't remember most of this book very well. But I remember being fascinated by it. Especially the whole water isotope thing. (I think it actually made my chemistry class seem somewhat relevant...) ( )

short and sweet. Vonnegut invents his own religion here, Bokononism, and asks us to partake. Vonnegut begs for peace. There is no story. It's just Vonnegut. When you hold the book, you are holding him. He'll bleed for you. For serious. ( )
