I had a hard time getting past the idea that a girl raised on a ranch was so incompetent with everything to do with ranching. Plus she went between being a pretty big weenie, and moronically fearless, which is not the kind of heroine I prefer to read.

Also, what is up with these authors who write women who are so ignorant they can't tell if they're really pregnant and the man has to tell her?

Seriously, he was married before, observed one pregnancy and therefore knew exactly how hormonal every woman will be during pregnancy? And the woman doesn't have a clue, and has to be told by the neighbor rancher dude that she isn't really pregnant?

Hero is a rather alpha guy, which I like, but you get to feeling a little skeevy about how he wants show more a woman who is virtually clueless. show less
