Rough, Raw & Ready was fantastic! Right from the beginning, I was drawn to the relationship between Chassie, Trevor and Edgard. It was a very sweet and touching romance. It was easy to see the affection between Chassie & Trevor, the affection between Trevor and Edgard and the growing affection between Chassie and Edgard. I loved how Chassie handled the potential wrench thrown into her marriage. She was appropriately shocked and horrified. I thought she did a great job trying to come to terms with Trevor and Edgard without being judgmental. I couldn't imagine finding out that my husband had a sexual relationship with another man and knowing that he still harbored feelings for that man. Even though Trevor and Edgard were together first, show more they did nothing to exclude Chassie or make her feel like the third wheel. Chassie's understanding of Trevor and Edgard was a sight to behold. I think the author did a great job with the emotional aspects of this story and this was the best one yet. show less
I felt like this was a better written book than the other two in this series that I've read. More attention was paid to the actual story rather than just the sex. Don't get me wrong, there was plenty of sex. These people had some serious issues to work out and there was a reasonable solution reached after sufficient thought and talking and trial. There was really only one aspect that I found a bit of a stretch. Chassie and Eduardo fell in love with each other very fast. I have no problem with them loving each other. I just felt it was forced here and didn't seem very realistic. I would have been more accepting if it had been left that they really liked each other and felt that love would grow. May just be me.
All that being said, I show more still prefer M/F books. MM is just not for me. Mostly I assume because I like to identify with the heroine and her experience falling in love with her hot guy and I don't like anything taking away from that dynamic. show less

I wasn't expecting this story from this author. Having lived around real working cowboys most of my life I know their feelings on certain subjects. This story would definitely light a fire under most of them and not in a good way. I think that Ms. James did a good job writing such a story and showing a way a menage, m/m/f, could work in the real world. I also love that Ms. James ties each story to the next. The underlying plot of the McKay/West families run through all the books I have read so far. Ms James also has a wonderful understanding of what it is like to live in rural America. It is often hard and requires a lot of back breaking work to make a ranch or farm a profitable venture. I can't wait to read the rest of show more this series. I love the characters, the Wyoming background, and the love of family that shines through each story.

Since I know several people that don’t like this type of storyline I am warning there is m/m/f in this book. This is the only other book that Ms. James has written and it is the same pair of men as the first book, LONG HARD RIDE. There is also some bandage, spanking, anal sex (both male and female), and the use of toys.
Edgard Mancuso comes to Wyoming to see if his feelings for Trevor Glazner are real. He has been away for three and half years but Ed never really forgot about Trevor. When Ed’s mother dies and his family in Brazil turns against him he comes to the only other person that really cared about him. Edgard is determined to have Trevor. Trevor has been married to Chassie West for a year and he is as happy as he has ever been. Trevor has broken with his family and he has made a life with Chassie. He never thought he would ever see Edgard again. Seeing the handsome Brazilian throws Trevor for a loop, mainly because he has never told Chassie about Edgard. There are some rough patches for this threesome but by realizing they have to be honest with each other and a willing to try to get along they do form a union that will make everyone happy.
We met Trevor and Edgard in LONG HARD RIDE. Trevor is confused about his feeling for Edgard because cowboys aren’t supposed to love other cowboys. Trevor never felt this way about other men he has been around so why Edgard. Trevor is the quintessential cowboy. He loves the land, enjoys working with the stock and the land. He has never wanted anything but a place of his own and a family that will love him. The family that Trevor is related to has never really cared about him. I am sure on the definition of dysfunctional the Glazner family is pictured. Trevor’s Dad is a mean, manipulative bastard. His mother was a rodeo queen at one point and plays that part to the hilt even now. His brothers and sisters are just as mean and cruel as Trevor’s parents. Trevor has worked hard and has begun to make something that he and Chassie can be proud of. Even though Trevor is hard headed and stubborn he comes to realize, with Chassie none to gentle pushing, that he can care of Edgard and it is going to make the world stop spinning.
Edgard has come to realize that most of the problems that he and Trevor had were as much his fault as they were Trevor’s. Edgard is sharp, dominant and needing the love that his mother can no longer give. Edgard is compassionate and understanding and he is perspective. I am not sure Edgard knows what he is looking for in the beginning of the story but by the end he is clear on what he wants and how he needs to make it happen. When he finds himself attracted to Chassie he is more than a little confused and shocked much like Trevor was. I loved the scene where he buys a goat for Chassie because it shows that he is willing to try to make things work out for all of them. Of all the parties in this story he is the one most committed to making things work from the beginning.
While the main thrust of this story is the relationship that forms between Chassie, Trevor and Edgard that isn’t all that is going on in this book. There is also the ongoing story of the McKay clan, particularly the Carson and Carolyn clan. Cam is injured in Iraq and the family is devastated over the news but relieved that he is alive since they were originally told he was missing in action. It is very sad and brings the story down a bit. However the troops rally around and prepare to deal with the problem. I continue to identify with this story more than many of the other books I have read. I lived on various ranches in Montana when I was much younger. I l know what a hard life it can be especially when the winters can be bitter cold and the snow deep enough to hide the cattle. These stories capture all the heartache and joy of a big family living that life. show less

I gave it three stars mainly because of all of the hotness that it is contained in one book. Hot, scorching, i-need-new-panties kind of hot. The story though, hum came a little short on the plot. The characters were compelling enough, but Trevor was such a jerk sometimes that it took the sexiness right out of him. Chassie was strong and way too open minded for me. lol. Eduardo was hot, kind and sexy. Though, as a Brazilian myself, I have to say that maybe, just maybe, the author may want to do some research before trying to write something of another culture or language that she knows nothing about, clearly. Other than that, good read.
Audio, narrated by Rebecca Estrella. Trevor's married now and is surprised when Edgard comes to visit. Trevor and Edgard loved each other but Trevor refused to come out to be with him three years ago. Trevor loves both Edgard and Chassie, since he married Chassie he was going to walk away from Edgard until Chassie steps in. Very hot, sexy times. Some D/s, bondage and ménage.
Another great book in the series But not so loving the man on man stuff. Still worth reading! Check out my blog for more reviews http://iloveladyporn.blogspot.com
I really liked this one. Lots of chemistry between all three of them separate and together.
