Description
The law of Eldearth claims that only a boy can be a wizard and Keeper of the Light. Princess Arnelle is determined to prove that the proclamation is foolish and embarks on the difficult quest required of a hopeful Apprentice Keeper. Does Nell have the courage and cunning to battle the forces of Evil and Ignorance alone? Jackie French Koller's engaging writing whisks listeners into a world where witches and wizards, dragons and unicorns all blend together in a fantastic combination.Tags

I remember this as being one of my first introductions to fantasy. (5* at that time) Doing a re-read. Don't know if I will bother with all 3 books though.
Yep still love it. Can't wait to have grandkids so I can read it to them. I did read it to my daughter probably 15 years ago. Typical fantasy. quest, obstacles, dragons, wee folk, kingdoms, characters picked up along the way. Exposure to the world outside her protected environment. There is a sweet and funny interaction between her and a boy from the Lanes. He is a secondary character in the whole series so we'll get more of their interactions.
The narrator of the audiobook is fantastic.

I recieved this book as a Christmas gift and didn't read it for a while thinking it would be just another typical Dragon story or something. But then I started to read it and discovered I was wrong. It was so good I read it in a day! I highly recommend this book. I can't wait to read the other Keeper books. (Review originally written 1/5/04.)
