A long time ago I managed some zones on a couple Bind 9 servers for work. I was also known to buy a lot of the O'Reilly Cookbook books. I never found myself really referencing the DNS & Bind Cookbook all that much, unlike some others I made use of. To be fair, I feel that if I needed to truly look up how to do something, I'd use DNS & Bind instead (a book I made much more use of when I was first learning how to manage a DNS server). I thought I'd read this one through, and though dated, it still has all the feel of any of the other Cookbook books, I personally just found it not as useful, hence the lower rating.
(On a side note, I did discover in Chapter 10 a way to potentially solve a DNS issue I currently have concerning the ISP that show more maintains the zone for our organization). show less
