Received as a gift from my daughter while recovering from knee surgery. It was relaxing reading. Not surprisingly some of the entries were rather dated and many were OK but not great. Still the gems sprinkled throughout were worth the read.
Long before medical research proved it, the Reader's Digest was telling the world that laughter is the best medicine. Many of our readers are known to finish reading the funny anecdotes and end-of-article fillers before they go through the main articles. According to research scientists nothing could be better. Even fake laughter (see the article ""Take Time to Laugh"" in this selection) causes your body to react like it's the genuine thing and makes you really laugh, all the while triggering certain chemicals to flow that keep you feeling good -- and healthy.
In addition to the many classic RD articles, picked from the past decades, this special issue has many jokes, cartoons and one-liners that will make you smile or laugh. But that's show more not all. We've also included several insightful RD articles on a few geniuses who made all laugh -- personalities like Walt Disney and Lucille Ball -- all written by people who knew them well.
