I'm not entirely sure what to say about this book. I took a long time to read it (a house move intervened and I didn't seem to have any brain capacity left for reading) so at times I couldn't really remember what had happened before, or who was who. That said, I enjoyed what I was reading, even if I was hazy on the detail and didn't always quite follow the plot.
I want the sequel !!!!!!!

"Space opera" isn't quite the right designation for City of Diamond. Though there's no shortage of intrigue, counterplot and deception aboard the giant colony vessel that gives the book its title, there's also a faintly domestic quality usually missing from the wide-roving spectacle of the typical space opera. Nor are space operas usually possessed of characters as complex and introspective as show more some of those with whom pseudonymous author Jane Emerson populates this tale. show less
