In Murder...The last sounds Dean Wilson hears are a clock striking twelve and a killer's taunting words. And his death is just the first. One by one, victims are stalked and shot at close range. Only the killer knows their sins, and who will be the next to die at midnight...
And In Life...
In the ten years since her Hollywood career imploded, Lorie Hammonds has built a good life in her Alabama hometown. When the first death threat arrives, she assumes it's a joke. Then she gets a second show more note. Sheriff Mike Birkett, her high-school sweetheart, has avoided Lorie since she returned to Dunmore, but when investigators uncover her connection to a string of recent murders, he's drawn into a case that's terrifyingly personal.
Timing Is Everything
With every murder, the killer edges closer. Soon Lorie's will be the last name left on his list. Her only hope is to unearth a deadly secret—before the clock runs out for good...

It really should have been a 5 but there were some major faults. Running 2 different serial killers plus one sort of obsessed killer with one as the main plot and two as sub plots. Too many characters which if I had read the earlier books might make sense but it does't just reading this one. The Romance and the Mystery Plot went fine but there were too many relationships to keep straight besides the main Romance. The voice of the serial killers and the obsession were the same which added to the problem. It's not nice to yank the readers chain like this.
The identity was well hidden, in fact it might have been too well hidden because it was buried in all the other junk surrounding the plot. It really did read like real life and yes it show more could happen but... note the but... in a book, no. And then they throw paranormal in as a sub plot of the subplots making you wonder why they didn't use them in the main plot.
It is an excellent plotting story but it needed a lot weeded out to get above a 3. In fact if it had been less well written, it would have been a 1 or a 2 in rating but the writer can write. Just lost in plots. I understand some like one of the subplots will carry on to the next book but it should have been left for the next book instead of interfering with the current main plot.
Too bad. I really would have liked to give this a 5. If I had been beta reading it I would have told her to weed out the plots, focus on one, don't be all knowing with everyone in the book and their motivation. Hint at the subplot of the second serial killer and do something with the fan to make him more of the plot and less of a subplot running in and going "OH here I am. See me. I'm here. Yahoo. PAY ATTENTION" as an add on. show less

Overall plot was ok
The suspense angle of the story was a bit limited and un-suspenseful
The romantic potion of the story overshadowed the mystery and suspense portion of the story
I wanted way more insight into the mind of the killer
Multiple plots in the story line - 2 completed and one left open
If your looking for an HEA this book has the traditional HEA happy ever after with a wedding
