The Stephen King Universe

This was a mildly interesting read, but that's about the highest recommendation I can give for it. Admittedly, it doesn't help that I waited to read it until several years after its publication, years which included the publication of several more King novels, including the three concluding novels of his seminal Dark Tower series. Still, even if I had read it when it first came out, I don't think I would have gotten much more out of it than I did reading it now.

One problem I had with this book is that it's plagued with editing errors. The incorrect quotes, typographical errors, and missing words were a distraction. Beyond that, it just felt like a great deal of the material was nothing more than filler--which, for a book this size, is show more unnecessary.

Ultimately, this book is little more than a recap of each of King's works (those that were published before this was written). Seeing some of the connections I had missed or forgotten, as well as those established in the few King stories I haven't yet read, was pretty cool. However, as most of the connections tie into the Dark Tower series, which wasn't finished when this book was written, there really isn't a whole lot of point to it. It did make me want to re-read several books I hadn't thought about for a while, though. show less

Any person interested in King's stories would enjoy this book. If you have noticed a similarity between books and have questions about the relations this book will help you see the King World more clearly.
