This was a good book but I like the Alex Cross series better. There was a twist that I didn't expect. I was a bit bored with all the stock market stuff so was glad that didn't last long and it got back to the suspense part.
Very good, very layered tale of terrorism. I get the feeling that the main character is a rougher, precursory version of Patterson's other character Michael Bennett.
It is a well-paced novel so it is quick reading. There is enough character development that all the people feel real and you care about what happens to them. It is a little dated now but not to the point that it is no longer interesting. I wouldn’t call it heavy reading but it is entertaining. It has action, suspense and even some romance. There was a plot point added towards the end of the book that made the whole thing less believable to me but by then I was interested in knowing what was going to happen. There was also some weird use of italics. It put emphasis in some strange places and I didn’t know what the point of them was. But even with the few not so great points it is a fun read to pass a day or two.
Wait a minute. It's been like pulling teeth to get through this book. Something I do is never give up on a book. Just as I was about to put it down, I run into a segment that suddenly makes it a keeper. Back to the story... Although this book didn't pin me down like his other books, I am glad I finished it. What really impressed me in the end was the thought of how much research he put into this and all of his work. He remains my favorite thriller author, and I have six books of his on tap right now.
This one wasn't bad. There were enough clues to keep you basically up to speed in solving the mystery, but enough of them were red herrings to keep it interesting. The only down side was a rather abrupt ending.
½
Exciting thriller that kept my attention--page turner even if it was an audio book. Listened quickly to this one. Another good Patterson book that ends with flair.
This novel by James Patterson was an interesting mystery story. Set in New York city in the 80's political figures and members of the police force are trying to figure out the members involved in various terrorist attacks and bombings in the city. I liked his writing style, and how there were plenty of clues and red herrings to keep me interested and invested in solving the mystery.
