Phano is only 14 when she meets Theo, an ambitious politican from a well-connected family. What stands in her way from happiness with him is the terrible wealthy man who owned her step-mother as a courtesan. This is a romantic historical novel set in ancient Greece and provides a plot-line that is keeps interest. The background is well researched and there is much reference to Greek mythology. Lots of detail add to colorful imagery. This would be a good selection for late high school and would have particular appeal to girls. This would also be useful reading alongside the study of Ancient Greece. ( ) no reviews | add a review
