In this story, we follow our female protagonist through her daily routine. She has a problem sleeping, and this story drives us through the perspective and thought process of a women when in lack of sleep. This is a story which is largely left to a user's interpretation . I personally do not have the intellect nor the reasoning capability to fully get the idea of the story. But, if you are someone who likes open stories and is great at incurring meaning from situations, then this story is for you.
Racconto breve, accompagnato da belle illustrazioni, suggestive. Si legge in meno di un'ora, con una scrittura fluida e coinvolgente. Lette le ultime righe però tutto quello che mi sento di dire è: E QUINDI?
At first sight, this doesn't seem like a complicated story. A woman who hasn't slept in 17 days. Weird, okay, but not like weird like some other novels by his hand.
Untill a the fact that she doesn't sleep seemingly doesn't affect her at all. Or that she is even feeling better now, not sleeping, getting more beautiful even.
In fact it seems like she has been wasting many years of her life just by sleeping about 8 hours a day. The book more or less ends like it begun: with a woman not sleeping. Only... when she started thinking about death and how she imagined death to be a kind of sleep, she got me trailing along that path with her and well....
Read for yourself to find out what it is she thinks and what YOU think on the matter :-)

I think Murakami is a great writer, but this story felt rather rushed and unloved. Sure, the things that Murakami likes to incorporate in his story are there. But there just seems to be no point to the story. He keeps on repeating himself. A shame.
Eu já tinha lido esta história num dos livros do Murakami em que os contos são complilados. Enquanto lia ainda me lembrava bastante bem da história. O que não me deteve de a reler. Eu aprecio sempre ler Murakami mais em inglês do que em português, deduzo que tenha a haver com a tradução. Apreciei as gravuras deste romance ilustrado.
