Description

Petite, indomitable North Carolinian Abigail Timberlake rose gloriously up from the ashes of divorce—parlaying her savvy about exquisite old things into a thriving antiques enterprise: the Den of Antiquity. Now she's a force to be reckoned with in Charlotte's close-knit world of mavens, eccentrics and cuttthroat dealers. But a superb, gilt-edged 18th-century French armoire she purchased for a song at estate auction has just arrived along with something she didn't pay for: a dead body.

show more Suddenly her shop is a crime scene—and closed to the public during the busiest shopping season of the year—so Abigail is determined to speed the lumbering police investigation along. But amateur sleuthing is leading the feisty antiques expert into a murderous mess of dysfunctional family secrets. And the next cadaver found stuffed into fine old furniture could wind up being Abigail's own.

Overall, this was a good book. There were times I couldn't put it down, but also times I wanted to skip a few pages. It kept me guessing and had enough twists to keep it interesting. I plan to read some of the other books in this series, because I really enjoyed the writing style, and the plot was very original.

Got this book from my parents as well as a couple other in the Den of Antiquity series. Was very happy with it. Was a quick and easy read. Am looking for the others in the series that the parents have not given to me to finish off my collection.
I just love a series that leaves you drooling for the next one.

Tamar Myers was born and raised in the Belgian Congo (now just the Congo). Her parents were missionaries. She was sixteen when her family settled in America. In college she began to submit novels for publication, but it took 23 years for her to get published. Persistence paid off, however, because Tamar is now the author of two ongoing mystery show more series. One is set in Pennsylvania and features Magdalena Yoder, an Amish-Mennonite sleuth who runs a bed and breakfast in the mythical town of Hernia. The other is set in the Carolinas and centers around the adventures of Abigail Timberlake, the proud owner of a Charlotte (and later Charleston) antique store, the Den of Antiquity. Tamar now calls Charlotte, NC home. She lives with her husband, plus a Basenji dog, a Bengal cat, and an orange tabby rescue cat. (Bowker Author Biography) show less
