Book description
Probably Annis should never have married Jake Royal. After all, her life as daughter of the Rectory was a busy and happy one certaintly not lacking in love - but the fact was that she loved Jake even more than she loved her family, so when he proposed to her that was that. He said from the start that he didn't think love was neccessary to make a marriage work - meaning he didn't love her! -And would a one sided love be enough to sustain Annis in such a situation? Even if she could accept his lack of feeling for her, would Jake even admit her into his life?
