Award winning children's book from 1978 by Andrew Davies, today known for his successful screen adaptations - Pride and Prejudice, Bleak House, Middlemarch.
Conrad Pike is a young boy so obsessed with 'Wars, Army, Killing , Guns', that, because of a 'time leak', he finds himself back in World War II piloting a Lancaster bomber, held prisoner at Colditz and fighting with the French Resistance. Davies has written an enjoyable mix of adventure, comedy and the realities of war.
