This book is a favorite with my male class members no matter what their reading levels. They all seem to find it a book that they can identify with even though we live in a rural mountainous area. My copies are constantly in need of replacement! Even my EL students find this book something they can enjoy.
This kid name is Adam and his family thinks his dad died in Pearl Harbor the family is trying to keep it a secret so the little girl does not know and her name is Cassie.
Will update soon!!!

I was walking down the middle of the road when I saw a couple of people pushing a car up a hill. There was never a lot of traffic, not with gas rationing.
