I got this collection because I really loved "The Dazzle of Day" and wanted to read more SF written by Molly Gloss. A few of the stories in this book are contemporary realist, but most have some fantastical element to them, and several are straight-up SF.

As with any short story collection, I liked some stories more than others, but everything that made "The Dazzle of Day" great is also in this book: the prose is beautiful, the characters are well-crafted, and every story says what it has to say with feeling and with subtlety.
