Binky the Space Cat is back, and is as busy as ever, protecting his space station and his humans from invading aliens (bugs). When Binky is a little too overzealous in his pursuit of aliens, he falls through the bathroom window and lands (gasp) in outer space. Young readers will love being one up on Binky as they quickly realize that the space station is his house and outer space is the yard. Binky's quick thinking allows him to find an oxygen source (uh, garden hose) just in time, and the panels showing him sucking down air from the hose are priceless. When a swarm of aliens attacks, Binky's human sweeps him up and gets him safely inside, away from the bees, but when Binky realizes that his purple stuffed co-pilot Ted has been left show more behind in the yard/ outer space, he is determined to rescue his mousie friend. He embarks on a daring plan, involving digging a tunnel from the kitchen floor under the house's foundation and out to the yard (his humans don't notice a thing), and saves Ted in the nick of time. The graphic novel format is easy enough for students making the transition to chapter books, and Binky is just plain hilarious. show less
Binky. Is. Back. Yay!! In the first Binky story, we met the intrepid space cat, who valiantly defends his family from aliens (bugs) despite the dangers, including the occasional "poot" of space gas. Now, in his neverending pursuit of aliens, Binky has, *gasp* fallen into outer space! Now Binky is up against the most dangerous alien of all....wasps. Will he survive? More importantly, will everyone make it back safely from...outer space?
There are so many nice things about the Binky series. First, it's very funny in a way that kids of all ages and adults can appreciate it. There's enough subtlety and irony that adults can enjoy it, but not so much that kids feel like it's going over their heads - or talking down to them. Binky has a show more genuinely original premise, lively narration, and snicker-worthy dialogue. The art isn't too complicated for beginning readers and the text and art perfectly complement each other. The text itself is in a nice block printing that's very accessible for new readers. Finally, it's got a simply lovely binding, a rare thing in a graphic novel.
This series is very popular in my library and I'm thrilled to see a sequel! Long may Binky fight against the aliens and explore outer space!
Verdict: Highly recommended, specifically for beginning and intermediate readers.

After abandoning his plans for space travel to protect his humans, Binky gave up on any chance for stepping foot outside the space station. That is, until he accidentally falls out of a window. He always knew that being a member of F.U.R.S.T. came with its share of dangers, but space is a dangerous place for a kitty. Luckily his humans come to HIS rescue. Everything returns to normal until - GASP!!! Where's his best friend, Ted? Outside!!! Right beneath the alien spacecraft!!! Will Binky take his chances in outer space, or will his first and only visit spell doom for his mousie?
Ashley Spires does not disappoint in the follow up to Binky the Space Cat. It's as hilarious as its predecessor and its successor - just as gassy, too!

The second instalment in the adventure of Binky the space/house cat. Here, Binky accidentally exits into "Outer Space" (falls out the bathroom window) where he becomes a victim of a vicious attack by aliens (a swarm of bees) and must rescue his side-kick (a tiny teddy-bear) from the aliens when his little friend is accidentally left outside. Cute, but only recommended if you couldn't get enough with Binky the Space Cat (which was definitely the case for me).
Another delightful adventure with Binky the Space Cat and his mousie co-pilot, Ted. This time, Binky accidentally ventures into outer space, with disastrous results--Ted is captured by the aliens! It will take all of Binky's training and ingenuity to get him back.
This book did not win any awards. This would be good for 1st graders and 2nd graders since the book's text is basic enough for new readers and it is a fun cartoon that the kids will like. This book is about an adventurous cat who falls out the window of his house and thinks he is in outter space. He views the world as if he is on another planet and he freaks out until his owner picks him up and brings him in the house. Once he is in the house he realizes that his little mouse stuffed animal is still in "outter space" and he then has to make a plan in order for him to rescue his mouse bud. After a series of planning and careful thinking he goes back outside and gets his friend from the dangers of space. This book deals with problem show more solving, determination and friendship. We can either read the book together or they can attempt to read the book on their own. After we read they can make their own graphic novel and we can discuss the process. show less
